Advantage of having Pressure Groups

Raise Public Awareness of interest

- of their interest or cause

-through a range of tactics

-example: Fathers 4 Justice

-they raised awareness of dads being denied access of their children

-they did it by dressing as batman and climbing the walls of parliament

They have Considerable Expertise

-they have sound knowledge of their interest or cause

-example: Jamie Oliver

-he is an expert on nutrition

-he is able to advice

Remind Parliament of Important Issues

-they raise public awareness to send messages to parliament

-they use the media to do this

-they keep parliament in touch with people

-example: Environmental Pressure Groups

-obviously had an effect as political parties are increasily becoming concerned with global warming

-this has also led to changes - car tax rates have been changed in favour of smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles

Disadvantage of having Pressure Groups

Biased

-only concernet with their side of the arguement

-do not have objective balanced arguement

-example: Fathers 4 Justice

-they know courts and mothers are looking for their childs best interest but they still fight against it

Very passionate about Cause

-can result in undesirable tactics

-can result in criminal behaviour

-example: Animal Activists

-they damaged scientific labotories that experiment on animals

Outsiders have No Contact or Asses

-to Ministers or Government/those in power

-they have a limited say in bringing about changes

-example: Fathers 4 Justice

i like this but think you should cover all influences on parliament instead of focusing on one
