Preparing a Human Cheek Cell Slide

PREPARING A SLIDE:

  • Take a cotton bud and gently scrape the inside of your mouth.
  • Gently rub the cells onto a clean slide.
  • Over a sink, drop a few drops of methalyne blue onto the slide and vcarefully wipe away excess.
  • With a tooth pick, carefully lower a smaller slide one corner first over the cells - this will ensure not air bubbles- and this will protext it.
  • With a light microscope, slide cells onto the stage and adjust the magnification - starting at the lowest.
  • Look through the eye piece and turn the knob to adjust the stage. This will adjust the focus.
