A change in the nucleus to alpha decay causes the nucleus to lose 2 protons and 2 neutrons.

A change in the nucleus to beta decay causes a neutron in the nucleus change to a proton.

When the particle is emitted, the alpha decay emits 2 protons and 2 neutrons.

For beta decay, an electron is created in the nucleus and instantly emitted.
