An ion is an atom or molecule in which the total number of electrons is not equal to the total number of protons.
An atom or molecule becomes an Ion when it either loses or gains one or more Electrons.
Positive Ions (+1...) LOSES an Ion.
Negative Ions (-1...) GAINS an Ion.
