Measures of Hazards

Richter Scale-measures the energy (vibrations) released by an earthqueake in a logarithmic                        scale

Mercalli Scale-measures the damage caused by an earthquake by eye

Moment Magnitude Scale (MMS)-measures the same way as the Richter Scale, but does                                                             not cap out at magnitude 7.0

Volcanic Explosivity Induex- The volcanic explosivity index is based upon the volume of tephra produced during an eruption
