P1.4-Domestic Electricity

?

Equations

How much does it cost to use a 2500w electric fire for 4 hours if the cost by unit is 6p?

Step 1-Calculate the total number of units used in kWh.

Power-2500w=2.5kw

Energy-Power*Time - 2.5(Times)4=10kWh

Step 2-Multiply the total number of units (kWh) by the cost per kWh.

10kWh(Times)6p=60p

Finding out the killowatt hours:

KW(Times)Time(Hours).

E.g.

How many Killowatts hours are used by a 2kw kettle in 6 minutes?

2(Times)0.06=0.12
