A 4 figure grid reference refers to a whole square:

A 6 figure grid reference referce to an exact point within a square:

• Eastings are horisontal lines that you read first
• Northings are vertical lines that you read second

• A Spot hieght is the height of an exact point on a map

• Contour lines are lines on a map which show how high that line is. Usualy around hills or mountins.
