Opposition to Anaesthetics

-Some people were worried surgeons were to inexperienced. Didn't know correct amounts to give to patients.

-Members of the calvinist church were outraged that it was being used to remove the pain of childbirth.

-Too much control to surgeon, what if they did something you didn't want.

-Anaesthetics helped advance surgery, surgeons now had more time and could do internal operations, however a high percentage of patients still died due to infection.
