Implications:

• Get participants to observe staged but “real” accident.
• Higher ecological validity – accounts for variables such as emotional response to situation.
• Harder to replicate so lower reliability.
• May not all have a clear view of incident.  Reduce validity.

Effect to the results:

• Less participants reporting broken glass
• Less variation between verbs
• Less alteration of memories
• More accurate estimates of speed
