Newspapers

  • Non/Anti-Nazi news papers and magazines were closed down - by 1935, the Nazis had closed down more than 1600 newspapers
  • All Jewish and Left-wing journalists were removed after the passing of the Reich Press Law in 1933

Rallies

  • Annual mass rallies were held at Nuremburg to advertise the power of the Nazi State
  • Local rallies and marches were led by the SA and the Hitler Youth

Radio

  • All radio stations were placed under Nazi control
  • by 1939, 70% of German families owned a radio. Sets were installed in cafes, factories, schools, offices and loud spreakers were placed in streets

  • All flim performances were accompanies by a 45 minute official newsreel glorifying Hitler
  • All film plots were shown to Gobbels before going into production

  • Posters targeted the young
  • They were seen everywere and their messages were simple but direct

  • All books, plays and poems were censored and controlled
  • Students in Berlin burnt 20,000 books written by Jewish, Communists and Anti-Nazi university professors and writers
