Nature of humanity and the human condition: what it means to be human- CHRISTIANITY

?

We are created in the image of God

Humans are made in the image of God (Imago dei).
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him. Male and female he created them."Genesis 1:26-27

God has a plan for every human

Christianity says that God has a plan for all humans, even before their birth.
"You created every part of me you knit me together in my mother's womb. When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my mother's womb, when I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there; you saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in your book, before any of them ever began." Psalm 139:13-16

Human Life is Sacred

Human life was created by God and is therefore sacred.
"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's Temple and that God's spirit lives in you?"         1 Corinthians 2:16

Jesus Died For Everyone

Christians also believe that humans are intrinsically valuable due to the fact that Jesus died for everyone.
"He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sin of the whole world" 1 John 2:2

Original Sin

We are sinful by nature; this is an intrinsic fact of humanity, according to Christianity.
"Surely I have been a sinner from birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me" (Psalm 51:5)
This is seen as an extension of the notion of original sin.
HOWEVER, many Christians reject this notion, because:
Luke 18:16 "But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
