Remixing

A remix is a piece of media which has been altered from its original state by adding, removing, and/or changing pieces of the item. A song, piece of artwork, books, video, or photograph can all be remixes. The only characteristic of a remix is that it appropriates and changes other materials to create something new.

Delay

Delay is an audio effect and an effects unit which records an input signal to an audio storage medium, and then plays it back after a period of time. The delayed signal may either be played back multiple times, or played back into the recording again, to create the sound of a repeating, decaying echo.

Reverb

Reverberation, is a persistence of sound after the sound is produced. A reverberation, or reverb, is created when a sound or signal is reflected causing a large number of reflections to build up and then decay as the sound is absorbed by the surfaces of objects in the space – which could include furniture, people, and air. This is most noticeable when the sound source stops but the reflections continue, decreasing in amplitude, until they reach zero amplitude.

Phrasing

Musical phrasing is the way a musician shapes a sequence of notes in a passage of music to allow expression. A musician accomplishes this by interpreting the music—from memory or sheet music by altering tone, tempo, dynamics, articulation, etc. For example, accelerating the tempo or prolonging a note may add tension.

Looping

Loops are short sections of tracks (probably between one and four bars in length), which you believe might work being repeated.

A loop is a sample of a performance that has been edited to repeat seamlessly when the audio file is played end to end.
