How to calculate Mass?

mass of (substance) = e.g 0.24g

mass of (product) = e.g 0.80g

(substance + oxygen  --->  2 together)

e.g - magnesium + oxygen ---> magnesium oxide

                      0.24g                                0.80g

0.80g - 0.24g = 0.56g

Nutrients?

Carbs - provide energy.

Lipids (fats) - provide energy.

Proteins - growth and repair.

Vitamins - healthy.

Minerals - healthy.

Fibre - (not a nutrient but lets food move through body easily.

Food Tests?

Starch - Iodine, if startch is there it will go blue/black.

Lipids - Filter paper, rub against food and if will go translucent if lipids are there.

Sugar - Benedicts solution, makes the food go orange if sugar is there.

Protein - Copper sulfate, makes the food go purple if protein is there.

Why are leaves green?

They contain chlorophyll.

16 of 20

What does the Stoma do?

Allows gases to diffuse in and out of the leaf.
