Acceleration = change in velocity
-----------------------
Time taken
If velocity is constant, the change in velocity is zero and the acceleration is 0 m.s per second or 0 m/s/s.
If velocity increases by 1 m/s every second, the acceleration is 1 m/s/s.
If velocity increases by 2 m/s every second, the acceleration is 2 m/s/s.
If velocity decreases by 2 m/s every second, the acceleration is -2 m/s/s ; this is often called deceleration.
