Monastries and Health Changes in the Middle Ages

Monastries 

  • Close to rivers, clean water 
  • Clean spring water piped into kitchens and washing areas. 
  • Used for Baptisms and Blessings, washing hands/ silver cups after mass and drinking and washing
  • Hospital to look after sick. 
  • Latrines built over rivers to take waste away. 
  • Respect for Church fell 
  • Less money put into wills
  • Money went on water for poor.
