Definitions

Majority Influence: People identify with the majority and try to 'fit in' with there opinions without careful scrutiny of the message.

Minority Influence: A form of social influence where members of the majority group change there beliefs / behaviour as a result of there exposure to a persuasive minority.

  • Consistency - continuous process, repeating message/actions
  • Commitment - making 'sacrifices for the cause (time, risking imprisonment etc)
  • Flexibility - possibly compromising, not having a 'rigid' approach/attitude
