RECONSTRUCTIVE MEMORY

Aim- to see if participants would alter the information if given something unfamilliar to remember

Method- participants were told the story 'the war of the ghosts' they were then asked to recall it in their own words

Results- every participant gave a different account of the story depending on what made sense to them, each time they were asked they changed the story a little more

Conclusion- when given something unfamilliar to remember, people will change it so it makes sense to them
