Christianity- allow abortion if ****, illness or severe disability of child. 

considered lesser of two evils

'treat others as you want to be treated'

Roman Catholic-totally against all cases.

god against it. 'thou shall not kill'

god created life and only one to end it.

only allow double effect- mother needs medial treatment which could kill baby as a result.

Islam- only allow to save mother's life.

later the abortion- the worse it is, believe in ensoulment

for first 16 weeks mother has more rights than foetus.

Christian-Jesus taught everyone to love one another, proved his love upon the cross

 think it's an act of love

Jehovah's witnesses- agree, BUT all blood should be drained from organ (cannibalism)

Muslim- Muslim Law (shariah) council UK (1996) issued fatwa (religious opinion)- 'the council supports organ transplantation as a means of alleviating pain or saving life'

normally, they believe that all body is needed for judgement day, but shariah believes it's alright if saving someone.

Christianity- gift from god, don't interfere with plan

some believe god gave us medical knowledge, we should use it.

using donor egg is adultery

spare embryos destroyed- wrong

cost too much- help starving children

Islam- acceptable for married couple, if not- adultery

qu'uran states sperm is sacred

accept destruction of spare embryos- no sole yet

Genetic Engineering-Embyology

Christianity- against. 

everyone has right to life- soul enters embryo at conception.

all created in image of god and entitled to life,

encourages not 'perfect' to be destroyed befoere born.

some believe god gave us the gift of science- so it's okay

Islam- generally for.

against- interfering with allah's plan

for- allah gave us the knowledge to do so. embro at early stages isnt viable for life until ensoulmeent so doesnt matter that embryos are tested on. 

believe prevention is better than a cure.

Life support

Christian- (church of england+ catholic church)-

believe in sanctity of life

believe god chooses when we die

if patient is beyond repair, turn of life support

Islam- life is a gift from allah, only allah chooses when we die.

if no hope for patient, doctor doesn't have to administer treatment anymore.

Euthanasia

Active- when someone does something to end someone's life e.g give injection/poison

Passive- stops doing something that stops their life e.g turning life support off

For- dignity in death, personal choice

hard to watch someone suffer

freewill- Adam and eve

Against- gives doctors too much power, god chooses death

against sanctity of life

against 10 commandments

Jesus suffered on the cross

god only gives you as much as you can handle
