ADVANTAGE

• Are the scan does not expose patients to radiation.

DISADVANTAGE

• Very expensive to operate
• Results can be easily effected by slight movement
• the patient can feel claustrophobic

X RAYS are electromagnetic ray's ,they can expose photographic film, they can pass through soft tissue, and they cannot pass through bone.

• Good bone resolution
• cheap and easy

cons

• poor soft tissue resolution
• high voltage supplies can be hazardous

Pros

• Can show cross-sections or 3D images
• can show soft tissue images like the brain
• more available than MRI

Cons

• More ionising radiation
• very expensive to use
• may not distinguish scar tissue from active cancerous tissue
• the confined spaces maybe problematic for the claustrophobic patient
