adding improper fractions

4 3/5 add 8 4/5?

add the whole numbers together which make 12

because 3/5 and 4/5 have a common donominator, it makes it simple to add them together

3/5 add 4/5 is 7/5

7/5 is an improper fraction. 7/5 means there is a whole plus 2/5

we add the whole to 12, this makes 13 and then the answer is 2/5. therefore the answer is 13 2/5
