Viscose

  • not warm to wear
  • fairly absorbent
  • comfortable against the skin
  • soft
  • it is not strong
  • there is no elasticity
  • it can crease quite easily
  • easy to wash
  • ironed as well

Acetate

  • no warmth
  • not absorbent
  • quick to dry
  • high comfort
  • static
  • soft against skin
  • not very strong
  • creases easily
  • thermoplastic so needs care when ironing

Polyester

  • not that warm
  • fast drying
  • low in absorbency
  • comforting
  • soft to wear
  • very strong
  • can be machine washed

Polyamide (nylon)

  • again low in warming quality
  • there is almost no absorbency
  • comfortable
  • it's breathable
  • soft
  • very strong
  • good elasticity
  • resists creases

Elastane

  • not warm on its own
  • used in blends
  • absorbent
  • it can dry very quickly
  • very very stretchy which adds comfort
  • strong
  • can be washed in a machine

Acrylic

  • wool like quality
  • dries quickly
  • comfortable
  • very soft
  • stretchy also
  • it resists creases
  • doesn't have the scratchy irritable effect real wool has
  • its thermoplastic so take care when ironing
  • it can shrink
