Watson and Rayner (1920)

A: To see if emotional response of fear could be ocnditioned in a human.

M: Albert 11 months old. Seemed to like white lab rat and had no fear. In conditioning trial everytime he reached for it a metal bar was hit behind him with a hammer.

R: After seven times Albert screamed and tried to get away from rat. Although there was no loud noise. Albert also feared fury objects and santa.

C: Fear responses can be learnt and even in very young children. Can learn in way suggested by classical conditioning.

Thorndike

Operant conditioning.

Cat in puzzle box would learn to pull string in order to escape from box.

Skinner

Reinforcement

Skinner box - rat accidently press lever and would be rewarded with food. Learnt to press leaver. Positive reinforcement.
