When the adverb comes before the verb:

"Before the sun came up, he ate his breakfast"

Exageration that isn't meant to be taken literally: 

"I'm so hungry I could eat a horse"

Two contrasting things placed next to eachother: 

"Terribly nice"

The use of words that covey the opposite meaning to their literal meaning, usually for a humorous or sarcastic effect:

"The traffic warden got a parking ticket"

A figure of speech where contradictory terms appear in conjunction: 

"Living Dead"
