Religon and Animals Rights

'The Sanctity of Life' teaches that as God gives all life, only God shoud take this away: this also applies to animals.

"God put man in charge of the fish, the birds and all the wild animals". This is from the book of Genesis in the Bible. It links to the idea of Stewardship: that man but protect and look after the world.

Jesus said "Are not 5 sparrow sold for two pennies, yet not one is forgotten by God." This tells us that God values all animal life.

Buddhists and Hindu's believe that animals are involved in the circle of life, death and re-birth. For this reason, animals should be treated well. Many Hindu's and Buddhists are also vegetarian as a result of this belief.

Jesus was once violent. When he entered a temple and saw that it was used for selling goods and making money he 'overturned the tables of the money changers'. This was a violent act in response to something that was wrong.

Throughout History there has been 'Holy Wars'. This is when people fight a war believing God is on their side. An example was the crusades 800 years ago.
