John Fisher

Robert Barnes (1495 – 1540)

  • Forced to recant his views before a tribunal in 1526, before fleeing to Wittenberg in 1528
  • Henry and Cromwell saw Barnes as a potential useful link with Luther
  • Turned in radical John Lambert who was burned at the stake
  • Condemned to the flames on 30 July 1540
