Migration Key Terms- 

• Migrants are people who move from one place to another.

• Someone moving into a country is known as an immigrant 

• Someone leaving a country is known as an emmigrant 

• The balance between immigration and emmigration is known as the 'net migration'

Types of migrant 

Displaced persons- Refugees/asylum seekers forced to move by war, famine, disaster or fear of persecution

Voluntary migrants- Permanent move for work or quality of life or temporary move for work

Illegal migrants- Voluntary individual move for work or move as part of an organised criminal acitivty
