Islamic Beliefs about Life After Death

Muslims believe in akhirah (life after death)

• After death, the angel of death will take a person's soul to barzakh (the stage between when a person dies and when they face judgement)
• Allah will judge each individual on the way they lived their life
• On Judgement Day the body will be resurrected
• Two angels will open the book containing the record of what a person has done in their lifetime
• If their name is recorded on the right-hand side of the book they will be sent to al'Jannah (paradise)
• If their name is recorded on the left-hand side od the book they will be send to Jahannam (Hell)

• Surahs 11 and 56 - Allah is powerful and merciful
• Teachings of the Prophet

Judgement:-

• Qur'an and Shari'ah law teach that Muslims will be judged by Allah
• Islam teaches that the good will be rewarded and the evil punished
• The Qur'an teaches that God's judgement is final
• Only the judgement of Allah puts the wrongs of life right

• Muslims try to follow the teachings of the Qur'an and Shari'ah law
• They will also follow the example of Prophet Muhammad and try to be a good Muslim
• They will try to act the way Allah wishes, caring for others and not causing harm
• Muslims believe Allah sees everything they do and they will be judged on this in the afterlife so will try to please him
