Risalah

Prophethood/ messengers of Allah

prophets:

  • Isma'il
  • Muhammad (Last prophet, recieved the Qur'an, the final message from Allah.)
  • Adam (first prophet and first human tasked with looking after the world (be a Khalifah))

Rasul= Prophet whose message has been written down

Rasuls include:

  • ibrahim (Tried to encourage worship of Allah. Tested by Allah by being told he should sacrafice his son, which he was prepared to do)
  • Musa 9sent to thr Pharaoh of Egypt and to Israelites for guidance/ warning.)
  • Dawud(lawgiver of Allah and King of Israel. Defeated Goliath)
  • Isa (aka jesus in Christianity, messanger of Allah who recieved Injil (gospel). Muslims do not accept his resurrection)

Malaikah

Beings believed to be angels/ messengers from Allah.

Angels:

  • Ibril (Gabriel) = Angel who gave Muhammad the Qur'an)
  • izra'il = Angel of death, signals coming of the day of judgement by blowing a trumpet. Returns human souls to Allah.
  • Mika'iln = Angel of mercy or sustenance, rewards those who led good lives. Brings rain and thunder to earth)

Al-Qadr

Day of judgement when Allah will judge them on how they lived their lives/ behaved.At this point, it is too late to beg forgiveness for sins. 

Everything that happens happens at the will of Allah, even if Muslims don't understand why.

Akhirah

After death, angel of death takes person's soul to BARZAKH, where it will wait for judgement day.

Allah will judge everyone on how they lived their life.

On day of judgement, the body will be resurrected.

Two angels open the book which says how every person has lived their life.

If their name is on the right-hand side of the book, they will go to Jannah. If not, they will go to jannam.

Festivals

  • Eid-ul-ghadeer - (shi'a only)- appointment of Ali as successor to Mohammad.
