The 'incident ray' is the ray of light that strikes the surface before reflection, transmission, or absorption. The angle of this ray is measured from a normal to the surface.

When you put light on a mirror, it reflects right? well when light is going towards a mirror, this is the "incident ray". when it is reflected, the light coming out is the "reflected ray"
