How bitmapped image is encoded
- A collection of pixels from an image is 'mapped' or diagrammed to specific memory locations holding their binary colour value
24-bit colour = true colour (i.e. 2^24 different colours) / monochrome = 1 bit, two colours ( black and white)
File size of bitmap in bits (exclusion of file header) = Colour depth * Resolution
How vector graphic is represented and encoded
- Images defined using mathematics and geometry such points, lines, curves and shapes. It allows for scability - objects and properties are stored mathematically
