Hypothesis Writing - Research Methods

An alternate hypothesis is the prediction of what the researcher thinks will happen.

E.G= There will be a significant difference between ..... and ....

A null-hypothesis is the prediction that nothing will happen as the variables are not related or will not affect one another.

E.G= there will be no significant difference between.... and ....... Any difference will be due to chance and chance alone.

A one-tailed hypothesis is directional. It must state a direction, type of effect or relationship between the variables.

A two-tailed hypothesis is non-directional; it states that something will happen but not what.
