Southern Florida- 100,000 without power

80% of New Orleans flooded.

New Orleans- 100 dead of Mississippi, millions without power.

Alabama- 400,000 without power.

Widespread looting and violence in New Orleans.

2nd September- Series of huge blasts at the chemical plant (French Quarter) started fires.

Repairing Levees

Helicopters dropped large sandbags into the canal breech.

Temporary steel barrier built at the mouth of the canal. 

Once breaches sealed pumps drained the floodwater.
