  • Since 1471 HT settled at court of Duke of Brittany 
  • Riii negociated secrectly for Duke Francis ii of Brittany to surrender HT in return for annual revenues from Earldom of Richmond 
  • However, this plan failed- Bishop Morton sent warning to HT in Brittany were he feld in FR
  • This ironically made HT greater- as FR king, Charles viii lent 60,000 francs and 1800 mercenaries led by Philibert de Chandee (later earl of Bath)
