how we bring about social change- 1. drawing atten

We draw attention through social proof.

An example to explain would be the civil rights movement in America

In the 1950's civil rights marches highlighted the situatuation regarding segregation. This provided social proof of the problem and led to social change.

2. consistency

to keep with the civil rights movement theme.

many marches and many people taking part each providing the same message to add their voices to the campaign.

contributed to social change because although they were a minority of the american population the civil rights actividtd displayed consistency in their message and intent.

3. deeper processing of the issue

Attention to the cause allows people who previously accept the status quo to think about it and believe it is now unjust

4. commitment

for people to show that they would die for this cause puts a passion on it and also adds publicity to the cause. eg you too would ask the question ' why is this so important?' if people were willing to die for it.
