the soft clay makes for rapid erosion.

Longshore drift moves South making it hard for beaches to form.

Hornsea>> 3km from shore line.

1990's sea defences were put in place.

Sea wall. Timber Groynes.

also a rock groyne to protect a caravan park.

Mappleton>> 3km S of Hornsea.

rapid erosion >> 2m/yr 1991 rock groynes and revements whre put in place

BEACH GREW!!!

All of this prevents sand from going further south. so erosion will occur futher down cliff face.
