Push and Pull Factorss

Push Factors:                                                                                                                       Poverty In Europe

·         Over-crowding in Europe, shortage of land and younger children could not expect to inherit much when thier parents died.

·         Persecution of Russian Jews, for religious or political reasons, singled out, treated badly and attacked for what they believed. The US promised respect to everyones beliefs

·         European class system , the richer classes in Europe owned the best land and housing, controlled and ran businesses and Gov. It was difficult for uneducated, poor people to improve their situation - this was not the case im US.

Pull Factors:

The US Bill of Rights, The American Bill of Rights had guaranteed freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of the press - people would'nt get mistreated.

Higher pay for US workers , Wages for skilled trades and large factories were better than Europe.

Natural Reasouces, Oil, Timber, minerals - encouraged the growth of industry and farming - would employ lots of people and provide oppotunities.
