America - Opinions of the New Deal

it helped many americans by giving them self respect and confidence to lift them out of depression

improved conditions of factory life

created more jobs - unemployment went from 14 million in 1933 to 8 million in 1937

it wasted a lot of money, and made people dependant on the goverment which led to the goverment becoming too powerful

it didn't solve America's economic problems

it was expensive and FDR almost doubled national debt 

farmers diliked the new deal because they didn't like being controlled 

african american lost their jobs as they were seen to not be high enough in society

The 3 r's

1. relief - helped provide relief for the poor and unemployed

2. recovery - wanted the economy to recover to its normal levels

3. reform- reform the financial systems so the economic depression wouldn't happen again

Goverment Programs 1933 - 1938

some were aproved by congrus and other were enforced by executive order

examples are ... AAA, CCC, FERA and TVA

restucture for the nations economy and relief to the financial industry

The Second New Deal 1935 - 1938

improve the use of the nations resources

relief for farmers

created goverment work programs

Germany - Opinions of the Treaty Of Versailles

British Opinions

The British were happy that they had gained some German colonies and that the German navy had been destroyed

David Lloyd George thought the Treaty was too harsh on Germany, he predicted "we shall have to fight another war in 25 years time"

The British economist John Maynard said the reparations would destroy the European economy

French Opinions 

France were happy that they had got : Alsace-Lorraine, german colonies and small German armed forces

However, many French people wanted an independant Rhineland not a demilitarised Rhineland

The French Public didn't believe that the League Of Nations could protect them against Germany

American Opinions 

Woodrow Wilson thought the Treaty was far too harsh on Germany 

Many Americans wanted to stay out of Europe and in 1920, the US senate refused to sign the Treaty and join the League Of Nations
