Heating and insulating buildings

?

U-values

The rate of heat transfer through a material,

High U value -a lot of heat energy transferred (this is bad for insulating buildings)

Low U value- a littleheat energy transferred (this is good for insulating buildings)

Lower U values are better than higher U values

Specific Heat Capacity

Specific heat Capacoty:

The amount of energy required to raise the temperautre of 1 KG of a subtance by 1 degrees C.

E= m x c x 0(with a line through it)

Energy Transfered= Joules

m= Mass (Kg)

c= Specific heat capacity(J/Kg degrees C)

0= Temperature Difference (degrees C)
