Hazard perceptions 1

.Our individual perception of hazards depends on how much they affect us and whether we have had direct experiences with them

.Natural event + people =hazard

. Population expansion = demand in land =  threat of natural disaster eg. increase of peripheries of an urban area = hazard

.Positive point of view for the sake of economic gain eg. = fertile soil for flood plains, which can prove helpful for agriculture = economic benefits

Hazard perceptions 2

.Perception = subjective as it can vary depending on the economic status of area eg. HDEs =money/ wealth for the redevelopment of infrastructure etc. so  long term damage

. For LDEs, as there is a less stable economy, there will be  substantially more international aid required both long term and the short term
