Hardware and Software

Any computer system is made up of two parts, Hardware and Software.

The parts of the computer you can physically pick up are called Hardware, whereas Software are the applications and programming instructions that tell the computer what to do.

Outside the computer case,

Inside the computer

e.g.

Motherboard

R.A.M. (Random Access Memory)

A computer needs to be told what to do, Software are the applications and programming instructions that tell the computer what to do.

There are two main types of software, 'system software' which basically tell your computer what to do, such as:

Operating system, Utilities, User Interface

The other type of software is called aplication software, such as:

Word Processors, Spreadsheets, Databases, Games

So Software depends on Hardware, and Hardware depends on Software.
