  • 1919
    • Hitler joined the DAP (German Worker's Party)
  • 1920
    • Hitler changed the party's name to National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP)
  • 1921
    • Hitler became the leader of the NSDAP 
    • Hitler created the Sturmabteilung (SA)- his private army
      • They broke up meetings of opposition group
  • 1923
    • Munich Putsch lead to Hitler being put on trial and gaining publicity
    • Hitler was found guilty of treason and was sent to Jail
    • The NSDAP was banned
    • Hitler wrote Mein Kampf
    • Hitler was released from jail

  • Causes: 
    • Hyperinflation made people miserable
    • Amount of people in the NSDAP grew to 55000
