Population growth is expected to slow down over the next 100 years.
LEDCS have faster rates of population
- Higher birth rates
- Higher infant mortality rate
- lack of contraception
- more children= more income
MEDCS have low decreasing population:
- high life expectancy meaning more elderly who will eventually die
- fewer children at later age- both men and women work
Examples of demographic transition model: Russia:falling population; falling life expectancy due to industrial disease, emigration, low fertility rate.Yemen:rising population;early age of marriage, high fertility rate.
