Christians and genetic engineering:
It's manipulating DNA, which are the building blocks of life. God creates life so we shouldn't interfere. We shouldn't try to make humans/world perfect because only God is perfect.
However, it can lead to good, e.g research into cancer treatments and GM crops to feed developing world.
Some Christians accept it because Jesus healed people in the Bible and this is a modern day version of healing. If God gave us knowledge and scientific abilities then we should use them.
Catholics
Disagree with use on human cells, believes only God and human parents can create a baby and Bible says humans are made in God's image. Altering humans is like suggesting God isn't good enough.
Protestants
More likely to accept it because they believe in long term interests of humanity. They accept manipulation of genetic material for medical research because it improves quality of life.
