Fartlek training improves cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance and reduces the chance of coronary heart disease.

Fartlek training is cintinuous but the changes in pace within the session means that performers work both aerobicically (jogging) and anerobically (sprinting, or running up hill) with in the exercise session.
