  • Age 3-5

Research method and Design

Dreams

Giraffe dream

  • There was big giraffe and a crumpled giraffe, the big one called out beause little hans took the crumpled giraffe away, stopped calling out when Hans sat on top of the crumpled giraffe
  • Symbolic of the morning exchage, father (big giraffe) didn't want Little Hans to stay (calling out) stopped when his mother let him stay (sat on crumpled giraffe)

Plumber Fantasy one

  • Little hans was in the bath, plumber came and unscrewed it then took a big borer and stuck it into my stomach
  • Freud said the bath was symbolic of his mother womb and the plumber is Hans father with his big borer (penis) that put Little Hans in his mothers womb

Plumber Fantasy two

  • Plumber took away his behind and widdler and replaced it with a bigger one
  • Freud said this was hans identifying with his father, exiting oedipus complex

Conclusions

Supports the phallic stage

  • Little Hans had an intrest in widdlers (phallic stage) and his problem came with the confilic between the love for his mother and fright of his father

Supports the oedipus complex

  • Glasses and moustach looked like a horse, Littles Hans' displaced fear of his father supports the oedipus complex

Problems

  • One major probelm as that a simpler explaination was that he had seen a horse fall and collapse in the street and now assosiated that with all horses
