Blow Moulding

Advantages:

  • Intricate shapes can be formed
  • Ideal for mass production
  • Low unit cost for each moulding
  • Produces hollow shapes - reduces weight and reduces material costs

Disadvantages:

  • Set-up costs are high as mould is expensive to develop and produce

Applications:

  • Plastic bottles and Containers e.g. fizzy drinks bottles

Vacuum Forming

Advantages:

  • Ideal for batch production
  • Inexpensive
