3 main aims 

-          Protect food

-          Stop unsuitable foods from entering the food chain

-          Reduce the risk of food-borne illnesses

Types of legislation

New food legislation came into action on the 31st December 2013.

Affects all food businesses:

-          Primary producers e.g. farmers

-          Manufacturers

-          Distributors

-          Retailers

-          Caterers

The legislation was brought from the EU Parliament.
