Christianity - Beliefs and teachings

  • Christians are theists (believe in God)

  • Monotheists ( born out of Judaism)

  • Trinity (three aspects) God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit

  • Analogy of water H2O

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength

DEUTERONOMY 6:4-5                   Which Christians do not believe in the Trinity and why?

Christadelphians do not believe because the idea of the Trinity leads to the idea that there is more than one God and so puts the monotheism in danger and so goes against the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:3 (‘You shall have no other gods before me.’)

God the father : created the world , he loves and protects His creation

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth… (The Apostle’s Creed)

God the son:  Jesus was God incarnate, God in human formGive a biblical example that suggests Jesus was divine and human at the same time?

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of

the Virgin Mary…THE APOSTLE'S CREED.

God the Holy Spirit:      (Paraclete) one who comes alongside someone else.

According to John 14: 15-27  Jesus promised His disciples  that the Holy Spirit would come after his death to comfort and guide them

‘All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them

Why are fire, wind and the dove common symbols of the Holy Spirit?

Dove :Jesus’ baptism, when Jesus saw “the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.” (Mark 1:10

Fire:  is  representation of the Holy Spirit. The fire that appeared on Pentecost (Acts of the Apostles 2:3) on disciples heads

The wind that appeared on Pentecost (Acts of the Apostles 2:2
