THEORIES OF EVOLUTION

LAMARCK'S THEORY A CHARACTERISTIC WHICH AN ANIMAL DEVELOPS BECOMES STRONGER AND THE ONES THAT IT DOES NOT USE DISAPPEAR. THE USED CHARACTERISTICS ARE PASSED ON TO THE OFFSPRING

DARWIN'S THEORY: DARWIN BELIEVED THAT MUTATION IN GENES CAUSED A VARIATION IN ANIMAL CHARACTERISTICS, THE BEST ADAPTED ANIMALS SURVIVED AND REPRODUCES PASSING THEIR GENES ON TO THEIR OFFSPRING.

DARWIN'S THEORY WAS NOT IMMEIDATELY ACCEPTED BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE VERY RELIGIOUS AT THE TIME.

NATURAL SELECTION

NATURAL SELECTION IS ALSO KNOWN AS 'SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST'

IT WORKS BY SELECTING THE ORGANISMS BEST ADAPTED TO AN ENVIRONMENT.

DIFFERENT ORGANISMS IN THE SAME SPECIES SHOW VARIATION BECAUSE OF DIFFERENCES IN THEIR GENES.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST- THE ANIMALS WITH THE CHARACTERISTICS MOST ADAPTED TO THEIR ENVIRONMENT ARE THE MOST LIKELY TO SURVIVE AND GO ON TO REPRODUCE, PASSING THEIR SUCCESSFUL GENES ON TO THEIR OFFSPRING

MUTATION IS THE CHANGE IN DNA RESULTING IN A NEW FORM OF GENE
