SECTION A: MEDIA AND NON - FICTION TEXTS.

SECTION A:

 - You're given an extract where you have to retrieve information. "What do you learn". Starting with an introduction is essential. (YOU MUST PARAGRAPH OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT OBTAIN A C)

- PEE: POINT EVIDENCE EXPLAIN. You must employ this method, as too, quotes are curical.

- If you're aiming higher: INFER/Read beyond the lines. Imply/make suggestions.

Overall this question is simple, it merely instructs you, on what you learn from the text.

Try finding an article online and write a few paragraphs on what you learn.

SECTION A: MEDIA AND NON - FICTION TEXTS.

SECTION A: QUESTION 2.

"Explain how the headline and picture are effective and how they link to the text."

(8 marks)

You merely state why the headline and picture are effective - is it relevant to the text?

Does the headline pose any linguistic devices? is the title dramatic, neutral, confusing or simple? And does this link in with the picture/text.

Remember to read the article, do not skim, many students skim since they believe that the headline/picture are CRUCIAL. read the text!
